Nestled in the enigmatic northern expanse of Reaper's Coast, Bloodmoon Island presents a compelling challenge for adventurers in Divinity: Original Sin 2. Shrouded by the deadly Deathfog and disconnected from the mainland due to a destroyed bridge, accessing the island demands ingenuity and resourcefulness. Venturing to Bloodmoon Island not only deepens the main narrative but also unlocks a plethora of engaging side quests.
Navigating to this secluded location can be perplexing, as the game offers scant guidance on bypassing the Deathfog barrier. Here, we unveil the pathways to reach Bloodmoon Island, ensuring you can advance the story with ease.
Spirit Vision Shows The Way
Once upon a time, Bloodmoon Island was tethered to Reaper's Coast via a sturdy bridge, now reduced to rubble northeast of Cloisterwood, near the haunts of Jahan and Witch Alice. Upon reaching the remnants of this bridge, you'll unlock the Driftwood Fields waypoint. To traverse this shattered path, activate Spirit Vision to unveil the bridge's broken segments, some of which are perilously trapped.
Fear not, for several tools and skills can ease your journey across this ghostly span:
Gloves of Teleportation: Obtainable early in the game, these gloves enable teleportation without requiring the skill itself. Though it may be time-consuming, you can teleport each party member across the bridge.
Translocation Skills: Utilize abilities like Phoenix Dive, Cloak and Dagger, and Tactical Retreat to leap across the gaps. Keep in mind that not all companions may possess these skills, necessitating alternative strategies.
Teleporter Pyramids: With four of these mystical artifacts at your disposal, position one in a companion's inventory who can use translocation skills to cross the bridge. Once they reach the other side, the rest of the party can warp to their location using the second pyramid.
Fast Travel: A companion skilled in translocation can cross the bridge, discover the Bloodmoon Island waypoint, and then the rest of the party can fast travel directly to the island, bypassing the bridge altogether.
Take The Ferry Across The Deathfog
For those fortunate enough to have Fane in their party, an alternative route beckons. As an undead character, Fane is impervious to the Deathfog's lethal effects. Northwest of Cloisterwood, you'll find a pier manned by an undead ferryman promising passage across the Deathfog to Bloodmoon Island. Be warned: this is a deceitful offer, as it will result in the death of all but Fane during the crossing. However, if Fane ventures alone, he'll emerge on the island unharmed, able to establish the Bloodmoon Island waypoint for the rest of the party to fast travel to.
Taking The Ferry Without Fane In The Party
Should your party lack Fane's unique resilience, yet you're determined to use the ferry, the Teleporter Pyramids offer a solution. You'll need at least two pyramids:
- Separate a companion carrying a Teleporter Pyramid and have them board the ferry.
- Upon arrival, they'll perish on Bloodmoon Island's pier.
- With the remaining party members, use the second pyramid to teleport to the fallen companion.
- Revive the deceased with a resurrection spell or scroll, reuniting your team.
For parties without Fane, crossing the bridge remains the most straightforward and swift method to reach Bloodmoon Island.
A word of caution: refrain from attacking the Undead Ferryman, as he can unleash a Deathfog spell, leading to instant death for those within its reach. If you're tempted to challenge him, ensure you quick save beforehand. Triumphing over him yields a Soothing Cold skillbook, an ordinary belt, and 3,750 XP.
