AppSir, the mobile developer behind the quirky one-bit platformer Climb Knight, is releasing a major update on February 25th. This free update includes three brand-new minigames and a mysterious new advisor character, reminiscent of Apple Newton shareware. Given AppSir's history of spooky and surprising releases, it's safe to assume there's more to this update than meets the eye.

We previously reviewed Climb Knight favorably, and AppSir's positive response to that reception has led to this substantial update. The addition of these minigames and the enigmatic advisor promises even more of the distinct indie fun that characterizes AppSir's titles.

AppSir demonstrates that dedicated indie developers can achieve popularity on mobile platforms by embracing unique and unconventional approaches. While not quite the "new blood" of smartphone gaming, their work shares a similar spooky, retro aesthetic with the excellent Faith trilogy.

Our previous review of Spooky Pixel Hero highlights another excellent release from AppSir. For more insight into AppSir's reaction to Climb Knight's reception, check out their latest blog post. And for more gaming news and discussion, listen to the latest episode of the Pocket Gamer Podcast!
