Ubisoft has unveiled exciting new details about the gameplay of Assassin's Creed: Shadows, focusing on the unique equipment and progression systems for both Yasuke and Naoe. A highlight is the enhanced functionality of the iconic Hidden Blade, a feature sure to delight fans.
Each character boasts a distinct skill tree reflecting their combat style: Yasuke's focuses on powerful samurai techniques, while Naoe's emphasizes agile shinobi skills. Players earn skill points to unlock weapon-specific abilities and refine fighting styles, accumulating mastery points through open-world objectives and defeating formidable foes like Daisyo samurai.
Balanced character progression is ensured, preventing one character from outpacing the other. Unlocking powerful abilities often requires specific actions, such as tracking down a mysterious shinobi group. Other upgrades are tied to the "Knowledge" scale, progressed by studying ancient manuscripts or paying respects at shrines. Reaching the sixth Knowledge rank unlocks a new skill tree, adding further depth to the gameplay.
The equipment system features five quality tiers: common, uncommon, rare, epic, and legendary. Players can upgrade and visually customize their gear at a blacksmith, with special armor and weapon perks potentially altering gameplay significantly.
The ever-reliable Hidden Blade returns, offering the satisfying instant-kill capability with a single strike. Assassin's Creed: Shadows launches worldwide on March 20th for PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PS5.
