Amazon Cancels Metroid Prime 4: Beyond Pre-orders; 2025 Release Still Planned

Amazon is refunding pre-orders for Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, notifying customers via email due to "lack of availability." This development, reported on January 11, 2025, across various online forums, has sparked concern among fans. However, Amazon assures customers that refunds will be processed within one to two business days.

The cancellation doesn't signal game cancellation, merely unavailability for pre-order through Amazon. Many fans had pre-ordered since the game's initial announcement at E3 2017.

The title was initially announced at E3 2017, initially without Retro Studios, the developer of previous Metroid Prime games. Development was later restarted under Retro Studios in 2019, following a statement from Nintendo acknowledging the project hadn't met their standards.

A gameplay trailer showcasing the antagonist, Sylux, and confirming the full title, Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, was released in June 2024, confirming a 2025 release. Nintendo reaffirmed this release window on January 3, 2025.
