Navigating Hyper Light Breaker's sprawling Synthwave Overgrowth can feel like a chore, but don't worry—you have a secret weapon: the Hoverboard. While not explicitly explained, this speedy mode of transport is available from the very beginning. Essentially your in-game sprint, the Hoverboard dramatically increases your movement speed, allowing you to quickly traverse vast distances. However, it does consume your Energy. This guide will show you how to use it and highlight some of its less obvious benefits.

How To Summon A Hoverboard In Hyper Light Breaker

Summoning your Hoverboard is surprisingly simple. Just hold down the Dodge button. Your Breaker will dash forward and automatically mount the Hoverboard as long as you continue holding the button.

Controlling the Hoverboard is intuitive. Holding the left analog stick steers; leaning increases with speed, making slower maneuvers easier than high-speed turns. To dismount, simply release the Dodge button. The Hoverboard will also automatically deactivate if you run out of Energy.

Monitor your Energy level, displayed next to your Breaker's companion. If it gets low, briefly dismount to allow it to recharge, preventing an unexpected Hoverboard shutdown.

Hoverboard Movement Tips & Special Uses

While the Hoverboard doesn't allow for tricks or combat, it possesses some handy features. Most notably, it floats on water, eliminating the need to navigate around rivers and waterways. Land and water traversal are identical; simply maintain your Hoverboard as you enter the water to seamlessly continue across the surface.

While riding, holding the Jump button allows you to duck, useful for precise jump timing. While you can't double jump on the Hoverboard, the increased speed significantly extends your jump range, making it ideal for bridging gaps. Note that ducking doesn't enhance speed or jump height.
