In a surprising turn of events, early gameplay footage of the highly anticipated next installment of the Fable series was unveiled during the Official Xbox Podcast. This unexpected reveal provided fans with a glimpse into various locations within the game's expansive world, showcasing the combat system, a variety of enemies, and even a snippet of a cutscene. Notably, the iconic chicken kick made a return, much to the delight of long-time fans.

Prior to this reveal, the head of Xbox Game Studios had announced a delay for Fable, pushing its release from 2025 to 2026. The reason given for this delay was the need for additional polish and refinement, a common requirement in game development to ensure a high-quality final product.

The reboot of this iconic series was first announced on July 23, 2020. However, since that announcement, details about the game have been scarce. It wasn't until three years later that it became evident Fable was still in the early stages of development. This prolonged development period, coupled with the fact that the main developer, Playground Games, sought assistance from Eidos Montreal, suggests that the game has faced significant challenges. The absence of polished gameplay footage for an extended period further underscores these issues.
