Ubisoft Mainz has unveiled a new trailer showcasing Anno 1800's successor, Anno 117: Pax Romana. Previous announcements highlighted Lazio and Albion as explorable regions; however, the trailer suggests Lazio serves as a tutorial area before the main gameplay unfolds in Albion.
Creative Director Manuel Rainer explains that Lazio's initial tranquility is shattered by a catastrophic event, forcing players to seek refuge and establish a new settlement in the challenging environment of Albion (Britain). Albion presents significant governance challenges: harsh weather, resistance from native tribes, and its geographical remoteness from Rome.
Players are tasked with governing Albion, but diplomacy is key. Success hinges on navigating cultural sensitivities and finding peaceful solutions rather than relying solely on military might. A notable feature is the customizable ship design, offering choices between speed enhancements (through oarsmen) and increased offensive capabilities (via archery turrets).
Anno 117: Pax Romana is expected to launch in 2025 on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S.
