Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana cleverly introduces challenging bosses, prompting players to master the game's mechanics as they progress. While not overly lengthy, the game offers a satisfying number of boss encounters.
Initially, players might need some guidance, but Gyalva, Lord of the Blazing Prison, truly tests your combat skills, abilities, and understanding of the game's mechanics. This fight demands mastery.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
Following your victory over Guilen, The Fire Eater, you'll continue through the Zone of Lava to face Gyalva. Strategically positioning yourself at either end of the bridge significantly simplifies this fight.
Unlike previous battles, movement is severely restricted, and the bridge platforms are constantly disrupted by Gyalva's attacks. The key is to repeatedly jump to Gyalva, utilizing wind magic to maximize damage output in short bursts.
The Ys franchise consistently ranks among Nihon Falcom's best, and conquering bosses like Gyalva delivers a profound sense of accomplishment.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
While Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys 3, expands upon the franchise's lore, Gyalva is a new addition to the boss roster. Gyalva possesses a diverse arsenal, and although the fight mechanics are relatively straightforward, its attacks can inflict substantial damage quickly. Gyalva moves dynamically across the bridge, often launching sections of it into the air with fiery attacks.
Consider upgrading Adol's equipment before tackling this fight, aiming for at least level 21. This shouldn't require excessive grinding if you've consistently defeated smaller enemies along the way.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva employs two variations of spinning attacks. The first involves a partial bridge traversal, launching affected platforms into the air. The second sees Gyalva traversing the entire bridge, causing widespread platform disruption. Both attacks can be devastating to under-leveled players.
To avoid the first attack, quickly move to either side of the affected area. For the second, the only safe position is on either ledge at the bridge's end. Staying close to one side ensures a safe retreat to the edge.
Avoid the very end of the bridge to prevent being cornered. Instead, strategically maneuver to attack Gyalva before retreating to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches fireballs onto the bridge, sending platforms airborne. While this attack inflicts damage, it also presents an opportunity to land several hits on Gyalva.
Bursting Torches
Torches along the bridge periodically erupt in flames, accompanied by a fireball travelling between them. These bursts inflict damage, and their timing is unpredictable. Wait for a burst to subside before moving through the affected area.
