The Central Concept Of Arthurian Myths And Knights

Eclipse Glow Games, a China-based studio, has chosen a Western setting for Tides of Annihilation, influenced by their financial backer, Tencent. The game's producer explained, "This game and Black Myth: Wukong are two projects invested in by Tencent, with different expectations for each. Black Myth: Wukong targets the Chinese market, whereas Tides of Annihilation focuses on a Western audience, leading us to select the Arthurian legends as our central theme." This decision led to the creation of a narrative centered around King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table.

Set in a post-apocalyptic modern-day London, Tides of Annihilation portrays a city devastated by an Outworld invasion, with protagonist Gwendolyn seemingly the last human survivor. The game blends an alternate modern setting with fantasy elements inspired by Arthurian myths, creating a unique gameplay experience.

Devil May Cry-inspired Combat And Over 30 Bosses

Tides of Annihilation's combat system draws inspiration from the iconic Devil May Cry series. The developers confirmed, "Our combat is definitely more like Devil May Cry," but they've also introduced a difficulty selection feature to cater to a broader audience. This allows players of varying skill levels to enjoy the game's action-packed gameplay.

Players can customize their combat style by choosing from four weapons and over ten different Knights to fight alongside Gwendolyn. As she navigates through a ravaged London, Gwendolyn discovers her ability to command the Knights of the Round Table, adding depth to the game's narrative and combat. With over 30 unique bosses to challenge, players are in for an engaging and demanding experience.

Plans Of Creating An Anthology

Looking ahead, Eclipse Glow Games expressed interest in expanding the Tides of Annihilation franchise into an anthology. They aim to explore different settings and mythologies, each with a unique protagonist, while maintaining the Outworld invasion concept. The team hopes that the success of the first game will pave the way for future titles that bring new mythologies to life.

Currently in its beta phase, Tides of Annihilation is slated for a tentative 2026 release on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S. Players will join Gwendolyn on her quest to save not only London but also the intertwined fantasy realm of Avalon.
