The game's narrative plunges players into the year 2114 aboard the FTL ship Von Braun. Awakening from cryo sleep, players find themselves disoriented and amnesiac amidst a ship overrun by hybrid mutants and deadly robots. The rogue AI, SHODAN, has taken control and is hell-bent on humanity's destruction. Players must navigate the eerie corridors of the Von Braun, piecing together the grim fate of the ship and its crew, all while attempting to thwart SHODAN's malevolent plans.

Nightdive Studios has confirmed that the release date for System Shock 2: 25th Anniversary Remaster will be unveiled during the Future Game Show Spring Showcase livestream on March 20, 2025. Alongside the announcement, a new trailer will also be showcased, giving fans a fresh look at the remastered experience.
