Oscar Isaac's Star Wars Celebration 2025 Appearance Fuels Poe Dameron Return Speculation

Sequel Trilogy star Oscar Isaac's confirmed appearance at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Tokyo (April 18-20) has ignited speculation about a potential return of his character, Poe Dameron. The announcement, made via the official Star Wars Celebration Instagram, follows Daisy Ridley's 2023 Celebration appearance, where she revealed her involvement in a new Star Wars film.

The Sequel Trilogy concluded in 2019 with The Rise of Skywalker, leaving Isaac's future in the franchise uncertain. While initially expressing reluctance, stating in 2020 that a return would only happen if he "needed another house or something," he later softened his stance, telling Variety in 2022 that he was "open to anything."

Isaac's past criticisms of Disney, particularly their rejection of a romantic storyline between Poe and Finn (John Boyega's character), haven't dampened the excitement. Boyega, who also voiced past frustrations with Disney, has similarly hinted at openness to future roles.

This renewed speculation centers on the upcoming Rey film, set approximately 15 years after The Rise of Skywalker, focusing on Rey's efforts to rebuild the Jedi Order. Ridley has publicly expressed her hope for Boyega's return, and the inclusion of Poe, completing the Sequel Trilogy's main trio, seems a logical next step.

While Star Wars Celebration 2025 might offer clues, fans face a longer wait for definitive answers. Multiple Star Wars films have faced repeated delays, pushing the earliest possible release date for the Rey film (directed by Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy) to December 17, 2027.
