Image Comics provides the following synopsis:
In Lost Fantasy, a hidden magical world exists beneath our own. First contact occurred over a century ago following a natural disaster, creating a rift that unleashed monsters. Since then, elite monster hunters, known as The Great Hunters, have collaborated with global leaders to protect our world. However, a recent catastrophic event in Montana has destabilized the boundary between worlds. Rookie monster hunter Henry Blackheart must now confront this threat.
Pires shared his excitement with IGN, stating: "I'm thrilled to be back at Image Comics with Lost Fantasy, a series blending my love for Western comics like East of West and Something is Killing the Children with the immersive world-building and action of the JRPGs I grew up with." He specifically cites Final Fantasy's influence, noting the protagonist's hairstyle and weapon as direct homages to Cloud Strife's design. He also acknowledges the subtle influence of Hironobu Sakaguchi's Lost Odyssey.
Lost Fantasy #1 releases April 30, 2025. For more on upcoming comics, check out previews for Marvel and DC's 2025 releases.
