KEMCO's latest Android release, Novel Rogue, plunges players into a captivating pixel-art fantasy JRPG with roguelite elements and card deck-building mechanics. This enchanting adventure features multiple books, strategic magic, and compelling narratives.
Players assume the role of Wright, a young apprentice under the tutelage of Yuisil, the Witch of Portals, within the Ancient Library. Wright embarks on a journey through four magical books, each transporting them to a unique world. One book leads to a quest assisting a princess knight in reclaiming her fallen kingdom, while another delves into the mysteries of the underworld. The dynamic nature of the game ensures that each playthrough offers a distinct experience.
Gameplay:
Novel Rogue's core gameplay revolves around a turn-based card battle system that adapts to the currently explored book. Each of the four worlds boasts its own unique deck-building system. Players defeat enemies, choose from three new cards after each battle, and strategically craft their optimal deck.
Additional features enhance the gameplay experience:
- Change command: Allows players to redistribute damage among allies.
- Novel Power: Strengthens decks using ink.
- Deep Record mode: Significantly increases dungeon difficulty for challenging battles.
Throughout the adventure, players collect treasures to strengthen relationships with characters, potentially unlocking a special ending. Witch Stones provide a cosmetic element, enabling players to customize character costumes.
