Warhorse Studios confirms: Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 will be DRM-free!
Following online speculation, Warhorse Studios has officially clarified that their upcoming medieval RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 (KCD2), will launch without any Digital Rights Management (DRM) whatsoever. This includes Denuvo, a popular (and sometimes controversial) anti-piracy technology.
Addressing concerns raised by fans on Twitch, Warhorse PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling stated unequivocally, "KCD2 will not have Denuvo, or any DRM system at all." He attributed the confusion to misinformation and urged players to cease inquiries about DRM. He emphasized that any unconfirmed reports regarding DRM integration are inaccurate.
The absence of DRM is welcome news for many gamers, who often cite performance issues and potential compatibility problems associated with such technologies. Denuvo, in particular, has been the subject of considerable debate within the gaming community.
Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has previously acknowledged the negative perception surrounding the software, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to release in February 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith apprentice, as he navigates the challenges of medieval Bohemia following a devastating event. Players who contributed at least $200 to the Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy.
