In Hyper Light Breaker, having the right weapon is crucial to crafting an effective build. Players begin with basic loadouts, but as you dive deeper into the game, you'll discover equipment that aligns perfectly with your preferred playstyle. This title blends roguelike mechanics with elements from extraction games, creating a unique approach to acquiring new weapons.
Where to Get New Weapons in Hyper Light Breaker
To expand your arsenal, explore the Overgrowths. While you'll naturally come across new gear during your runs, if you're specifically hunting for weapons, look for the sword and pistol icons on your map. These icons signify locations where you can find Blades and Rails, respectively.
Blades, which are melee weapons, offer diverse movesets and special abilities. On the other hand, Rails, the ranged weapons, come with unique functions that distinguish each model. Both types of weapons are available in various rarities, with gold being the rarest and most coveted. As with many loot-based games, rarer items boast superior stats.
When you find a weapon in the Overgrowth, you can either equip it immediately or send it to your personal stash using the Cache button. You can then select these weapons for your next run by adjusting your loadout before you set out.
How to Get New Starting Weapons
In addition to finding new Breakers, you can acquire new starting gear by visiting merchants at the Cursed Outpost. Initially, only the Blades merchant will be available. To unlock the Rails merchant, you'll need to gather sufficient materials to repair their shop.
Merchants offer a limited selection of items, but their inventory refreshes over time. If you don't find anything appealing at first, be sure to check back later to see what new options are available.
How to Upgrade Weapons
To enhance your weapons, you can upgrade them at the merchants in the Outpost. First, you must unlock the Upgrade feature by increasing your affinity with the merchants. This involves collecting Golden Rations, a scarce resource you can find by exploring the world or resetting cycles. Use them wisely, as they're hard to come by.
Be mindful of your gear's durability; each time you die, your equipped items lose one pip of durability, shown as a bar under their icons. Continuous deaths will eventually cause your weapons to break.
