Hungry Horrors Steam Demo Out Now, Mobile Version Soon

Hungry Horrors, the innovative roguelite deckbuilder from UK-based Clumsy Bear Studio, is turning heads with its unique gameplay. Instead of battling monsters, you'll find yourself cooking traditional British and Irish dishes to appease them. The first playable demo of Hungry Horrors is now available on Steam, with additional access on Itch and GOG. While Clumsy Bear Studio plans to expand to mobile and consoles, no official release date has been announced yet. The developers have been actively engaging with the community, showcasing the game at events like the London Game Festival 2025.

The Steam demo offers a robust preview of what's to come, featuring two handcrafted biomes, six hungry monsters to serve, two boss fights, and four NPCs for interaction. Players can also explore non-combat zones like the Nook and the Trove to regroup and refine their culinary strategies.

More About Hungry Horrors

In Hungry Horrors, you step into the shoes of a princess who must cook to survive amidst folklore creatures. The game cleverly intertwines deckbuilding mechanics with culinary arts, showcasing a retro pixel art style and gothic atmosphere. Its humor shines as you prepare dishes like Bara Brith and Cranachan, tailored to the peculiar tastes of legendary monsters.

Encounter infamous beings like Jenny Greenteeth, the blood-thirsty swamp witch, and Black Annis, the child-snatching hag with iron claws. Each creature has distinct food preferences; a misstep could turn you into their next meal. You'll need to discern what each monster loves or hates—be it sweet treats or a disdain for fish.

The deckbuilding aspect adds depth to the gameplay. Strategically combine ingredients, spices, and herbs to enhance your dishes, balancing flavors and planning your culinary creations. As you advance, unlock new recipes, ingredients, legendary artifacts, and rescued familiars.
