Breaking: Elden Ring DLC Gets Accessibility Upgrade

Elden Ring's Shadow of the Erdtree DLC receives a balancing update, easing difficulty. While praised, the DLC's challenging nature prompted some negative player feedback, including review bombing on Steam.

Update 1.12.2 directly addresses this, buffing the effectiveness of Shadow Realm Blessings (like Scadutree Fragments) found throughout the expansion. The update significantly boosts attack power and damage reduction for the first half of Blessing enhancements, making the early and late game stages more manageable. The final enhancement level also receives a small increase.

Interestingly, Bandai Namco had to remind players to utilize these crucial Scadutree Fragments, which enhance damage output and defense when used at Sites of Grace. Their proper use is key to conquering the DLC's challenges, and the update further emphasizes their importance.

The patch also fixes a PC-specific bug where ray tracing automatically activates when loading saves from older game versions, a known cause of framerate issues. Players experiencing instability are urged to manually disable ray tracing in the graphics settings.

Further balance adjustments and bug fixes are planned for upcoming updates.

Elden Ring Update 1.12.2 Patch Notes Summary:

  • Shadow Realm Blessing Adjustments: Increased attack and damage negation for the first half of Blessing enhancements, with a more gradual increase in the second half. Final enhancement level also slightly buffed.
  • Ray Tracing Bug Fix (PC): Resolved automatic ray tracing activation upon loading older save data. Players should manually check and disable ray tracing if necessary.
  • Future Updates Planned: Additional balance tweaks and bug fixes are coming.
