Amazon has introduced Alexa+, an advanced version of its popular voice assistant, currently available in early access. Powered by generative AI, Alexa+ offers a more natural conversational experience, making interactions smoother and more personalized. Amazon states that "Alexa+ is more conversational, smarter, personalized – and she helps you get things done," emphasizing its enhanced capabilities.

Currently, Alexa+ is exclusive to certain Echo Show models: the Echo Show 8, 10, 15, and 21. If you own or plan to purchase one of these devices, you can sign up for notifications to be among the first to try out Alexa+ during its Early Access phase. After this period, Alexa+ will be available as a free benefit for Amazon Prime members, or for non-Prime users at a cost of $19.99 per month.

With its conversational approach, Alexa+ allows you to ask questions or request assistance as thoughts arise. It can help with tasks such as managing your to-do list, retrieving specific calendar details, and making restaurant reservations, among others. Amazon promises that "new features are being added regularly," suggesting that more enhancements will be revealed post the Early Access period.

However, not all devices are compatible with Alexa+. Older models like the Echo Dot 1st Gen, Echo 1st Gen, Echo Plus 1st Gen, Amazon Tap, Echo Show 1st Gen, Echo Show 2nd Gen, and Echo Spot 1st Gen will continue to use the original Alexa. Amazon plans to expand Alexa+ compatibility to include Fire TV, Fire tablets, and Alexa.com in the near future.
