Marvel Rivals Reverses False Ban Accusations

NetEase's Marvel Rivals mistakenly bans innocent players. The developer, NetEase, issued an apology for wrongly banning numerous players who were using compatibility layers like those for Mac, Linux, and Steam Deck. These players were incorrectly flagged as cheaters during a crackdown on actual cheating activity. The bans have since been lifted.

The incident highlights the challenges of anti-cheat systems in dealing with compatibility software, particularly Proton on SteamOS, which is known to trigger false positives. NetEase encourages players to report genuine cheating and offers an appeal process for wrongful bans.

Separately, players are calling for the implementation of in-game character bans across all ranks. Currently, this feature is only available at Diamond rank and above. Many players argue that extending this feature to lower ranks would improve gameplay balance, teach players strategic team building, and create a more enjoyable experience for all players. NetEase has yet to respond to this feedback.
