AuroraWatch UK monitors geomagnetic activity, sending notifications when aurora viewing conditions in the UK may improve.

Key Features:

• Real-time Geomagnetic Activity Alerts: Receive instant push notifications when the AuroraWatch status level changes, indicating a higher likelihood of aurora visibility.
• Current Alert Status: Quickly check the current alert level. (See Notes below)
• 24-Hour History: Review geomagnetic activity over the past 24 hours.
• 30-Minute Forecast: Access a 30-minute forecast model from the Space Weather Prediction Center (SWPC).

Important Notes:

• Not a Forecasting App: AuroraWatch UK is not a precise forecasting tool.
• Phone Settings: Ensure your phone's battery saver mode isn't blocking push notifications. Check your phone's notification settings to confirm AuroraWatch UK notifications are enabled.
• Alert Delays: Alerts are subject to a delay to allow data stabilization, as recommended by Lancaster University. Alerts aren't sent retroactively; if your phone is off or offline during a brief status increase, you won't receive a notification.
• Location Considerations: Alerts primarily utilize data from the Lancaster magnetometer, leading to potentially more conservative alerts for those further north (like Shetland). The Shetland magnetometer data is not routinely used for alerts.
• App Development: This Android app is developed and maintained by Smallbouldering Projects and is not an official Lancaster University application.
