Don't Nod, the French studio behind Life is Strange, has launched the initial chapter of their latest narrative adventure. Players can currently experience "Tape 1," with "Tape 2" launching as a free update for all owners on April 15th.
Initially unveiled in 2023, the game centers on a close group of friends shattered during the summer of 1995. Twenty-seven years later, the specters of that summer resurface, unleashing unforeseen and terrifying repercussions.
Blending nostalgic elements with psychological thriller tropes reminiscent of It, Yellowjackets, and I Know What You Did Last Summer, the game is cleverly divided into two parts: "Bloom" and "Rage." As of February 18th, only the first half of this captivating mystery is accessible.
The second part, dubbed "The Tape," will debut on April 15th. Initially planned for a March release, the launch was delayed to allow for further refinement.
The review embargo has now been lifted, with OpenCritic reporting an average score of 74/100—a promising start for this suspenseful narrative.
