Vay: Revamped 16-Bit Classic JRPG Thrives on Android

SoMoGa Inc. has released a significantly updated version of Vay for Android, iOS, and Steam. This classic 16-bit RPG, originally released in Japan in 1993 on the Sega CD, receives a modern makeover with enhanced graphics, a redesigned user interface, and controller support. Initially localized for the US by Working Designs and later re-released on iOS in 2008 by SoMoGa, this enhanced edition breathes new life into the beloved title.

This revamped Vay boasts over 100 enemies, a dozen challenging bosses, and more than 90 explorable areas brimming with adventure. Players can also adjust the difficulty level to suit their preference. Convenient features include auto-saving and Bluetooth controller support, offering flexible gameplay options. Character progression involves acquiring new equipment, learning spells, and utilizing an AI system for autonomous combat.

The narrative unfolds in a distant galaxy scarred by a millennia-long interstellar war. A colossal, malfunctioning machine crashes onto the technologically underdeveloped planet Vay, unleashing destruction. Players embark on a quest to rescue their kidnapped wife, a journey that intertwines personal tragedy with the fate of the world. The story begins on the player's wedding day, when their bride is abducted, setting the stage for an epic adventure to thwart the war machines.

Vay retains its JRPG roots, incorporating experience point and gold acquisition through random encounters. The game features approximately ten minutes of animated cutscenes with both English and Japanese audio options. This premium title is available for purchase on the Google Play Store for $5.99.
