According to a Bloomberg report, Warner Bros. has canceled an unannounced paid DLC for Hogwarts Legacy. The planned story expansion was set to launch this year alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, the decision to cancel came this week, reportedly because the content volume was deemed insufficient to justify the proposed price.
Warner Bros. declined to comment on the matter to Bloomberg. This cancellation comes at a time when the company is undergoing significant restructuring within its gaming division due to financial challenges. Earlier actions included the cancellation of a Wonder Woman game, the closure of Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and MultiVersus developer Player First Games, as well as layoffs at Rocksteady in September.
Despite these setbacks, Warner Bros. continues to emphasize the importance of Hogwarts Legacy and the broader Harry Potter franchise. The company has labeled a sequel to Hogwarts Legacy as "one of the biggest priorities," reflecting a strategic focus on larger, more impactful franchises. The original game has been a massive success, selling over 30 million copies.
