Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2: A DRM-Free Experience

No Microtransactions, Just Cosmetic Options

Saber Interactive's recent FAQ reveals exciting news for players anticipating the September 9th release of Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2. The developers have confirmed the game will be free of DRM software like Denuvo.

While DRM is frequently used to combat piracy, it's often criticized for negatively impacting game performance. Past examples, such as Capcom's Enigma DRM in Monster Hunter Rise, highlight potential issues, including incompatibility with certain hardware and modding limitations.

Although DRM is absent, Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 2 will utilize Easy Anti-Cheat on PC. Easy Anti-Cheat's past involvement in controversies, such as the alleged hacking incident during the ALGS 2024 tournament, raises some concerns.

Currently, official mod support is not planned. However, players can still look forward to a PvP arena, horde mode, and a comprehensive photo mode. Saber Interactive assures players that all gameplay content will be free, with microtransactions limited solely to cosmetic items and no paid DLC.
