Skateboarding Returns: Console Playtest for the Highly Anticipated skate. Now Live

Good news for console gamers! The long-awaited skate. title, a fresh entry in the beloved Skate franchise, is now available for playtesting on Xbox and PlayStation consoles. While PC players have been enjoying early access since mid-2022, this marks the first opportunity for Xbox and PlayStation users to experience a new Skate game in over a decade.

The last mainline Skate game, Skate 3, launched in 2010. Despite a dedicated fanbase, EA seemingly shelved the franchise for a considerable period. However, persistent fan support, notably the #Skate4 movement, ultimately led to the announcement of a dedicated development team and the creation of skate. Initially slated for early access in 2025, this console playtest signifies positive progress towards that release window.

Via the official skate. Twitter account, Xbox and PlayStation players can now participate in the playtest through the skate. Insider program (registration required). A recent video featuring developers briefly addressed fan questions, confirming expanded Black hairstyle options and playfully acknowledging the "Fall 2024" playtest announcement.

EA has confirmed skate. will be a free-to-play, live-service game. Details remain scarce, but we know the skateboarding simulation unfolds in the fictional city of San Vansterdam, a work-in-progress inspired by San Vanelona, Port Carverton, and real-world locations. While a map leaked in 2023, significant changes are likely. Fans can either join the playtest or patiently await the wider release.

Alternative Skateboarding Experiences

While early access is targeted for 2025, delays are always a possibility. Fortunately, several other skateboarding games are available to keep fans entertained until skate.'s official launch.
