My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket tends to ebb and flow. I become deeply engaged whenever a new set is released and continue playing as long as there are Emblems to earn for achieving around 40 wins. After that, my routine shifts to logging in daily to open packs, participate in a Wonder Pick for fun, and then I usually forget about it until the next day. This cycle will kick off again with the arrival of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.
Shining Revelry will add 110 new cards to the TCG Pocket, featuring a diverse range of new Ex Pokemon, Trainers, and the stunning art cards that have become a beloved staple. The highlight of this expansion, as hinted by its name, is the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon. For those new to the concept, these are alternate color variants of your favorite Pokemon. For instance, Lucario will appear in yellow instead of its usual blue, and Pachirisu will boast a striking pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers just a glimpse of what's to come, but let's delve into the details. A new Shiny Charizard Ex will debut with 180 HP and an attack called Steam Artillery, dealing a massive 150 damage. However, this requires a hefty five energy. Fortunately, its other move, Stoke, allows you to attach three Fire Energy cards at once, making it more feasible to unleash Steam Artillery.
Another exciting addition is Lucario Ex. Previously playing a more supportive role in the Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is better suited for direct combat. While its 150 HP isn't particularly noteworthy, its Aura Sphere attack could be very effective. It deals 100 damage for three Fighting Energy and also hits one of your opponent's Benched Pokemon for 30.
The trailer also teases other cards that, while not game-changers, are still fantastic. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are on their way and look incredible. Additionally, there's a beautifully designed Tatsugiri art rare that I'm eager to add to my digital collection.
