Rockstar's Grand Theft Auto 5 Enhanced Now the Worst User-Reviewed GTA on Steam

Rockstar's enhanced version of Grand Theft Auto 5, launched in March, hasn't exactly been a hit on Steam. The game boasts a "mixed" user review rating, with only 54% of the nearly 20,000 reviews positive. This is a stark contrast to the original GTA 5, now unlisted on Steam, which held a "very positive" rating. In fact, GTA 5 Enhanced currently holds the dubious distinction of being the lowest-rated GTA game on Steam, even underperforming Grand Theft Auto III – The Definitive Edition's 66% positive rating.

This free upgrade for PC players includes features previously exclusive to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of GTA Online, such as Hao's Special Works upgrades, new vehicles, animal encounters, and GTA+ Membership access. It also boasts improved graphics and faster loading times, along with the ability to migrate Story Mode and Online progress.

However, account migration issues are plaguing many players, forming the crux of numerous negative reviews. Many report encountering the error message, “The GTA Online profile associated with this Rockstar Games account is not eligible for migration at this time.” This has led to frustrated players expressing their anger and disappointment, some even threatening to abandon their significant playtime.

Despite these issues, GTA 5 Enhanced remains incredibly popular on Steam, reaching a peak concurrent player count of 187,059 since its launch. This success, however, has fueled concerns about the upcoming PC release of Grand Theft Auto 6, with some fearing that Rockstar's current struggles could foreshadow further launch difficulties.

Currently, GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S only. A former Rockstar developer recently offered an explanation for the delayed PC release, urging PC gamers to remain patient. Other recent news includes Take-Two's lawsuit against PlayerAuctions for unauthorized GTA 5 content and Rockstar's acquisition of Video Games Deluxe, now renamed Rockstar Australia.
