The new Ratatan gameplay trailer offers an exciting look at the game's core mechanics, featuring a thrilling battle against a colossal crab boss. Unveiled during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025, the trailer highlights Ratatan's unique blend of rhythm game elements and side-scrolling action. Prepare for online co-op adventures with up to four players, commanding a massive army of up to 100 characters in epic melee battles.

Developed by Patapon creator Hiroyuki Kotani, with the original Patapon composer Kemmei Adachi returning, Ratatan successfully surpassed its console stretch goal on Kickstarter in 2023, guaranteeing its release on multiple platforms.

Closed Beta Commences February 27, 2025

Ratatan Gameplay Trailer Reveals 4 Person Online Co-Op

Ratatan's closed beta test is scheduled to begin on February 27, 2025, as announced on their Kickstarter page. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared some exciting updates, revealing that the game has amassed over 100,000 wishlists on Steam and received positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo. While the game won't be featured in the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is prioritizing the closed beta and focusing on delivering an enhanced demo for the June Steam Next Fest.

Sakajiri outlined the closed beta's scope: the initial build will include Stage 1, with Stages 2 and 3 added during the approximately month-long test period. He also noted that "The distribution of codes, start date, and time will be announced via Discord and X as soon as they are confirmed."

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. A specific release date is yet to be announced.
