Pirate Software Ejected from OnlyFangs WoW Guild

Pirate Software has been expelled from the World of Warcraft streamer guild, OnlyFangs, following a disastrous run in Dire Maul North. This dungeon, recently introduced to the World of Warcraft Anniversary servers, has already claimed several lives among OnlyFangs' Hardcore players. The incident involved Pirate Software allegedly causing the deaths of fellow guild members Sara and Snupy, leading to his swift removal by Guild Master Sodapoppin.

Before Blizzard officially introduced Hardcore servers to the Classic client in August 2023, players adhered to self-imposed zero-death rules. The popularity of these servers waned until the launch of the Anniversary servers in November 2024, which revitalized World of Warcraft Classic and significantly reduced the population on the original Classic servers. Since their introduction, the Anniversary servers have seen numerous Hardcore players perish, while a few have reached level 60 under stringent conditions.

According to multiple social media posts and a Discord statement from Sodapoppin, the decision to remove Pirate Software from OnlyFangs was influenced by the discomfort felt by many guild members after the deaths of Sara and Snupy during the Dire Maul North run. The group encountered issues after pulling aggro on a boss prematurely and failing to defeat a pack of Gordok ogres. When a party member suggested fleeing the dungeon to reset the enemies, Pirate Software abandoned the group during the escape. Despite the potential for him to remain in the guild under normal circumstances, Pirate Software refused to accept responsibility for his actions, exacerbating the situation.

A key point of criticism against Pirate Software was his failure to effectively use crowd control abilities during the run. Sodapoppin, in a review of the incident on Twitch, noted that Pirate Software could have employed Blizzard rank 1 to slow the enemies without depleting his mana reserves significantly. Additionally, fellow OnlyFangs member Mizkif suggested that Pirate Software's expulsion was also due to threats made against other streamers following the incident. Pirate Software responded to his removal on Twitter, arguing that the situation was not managed appropriately.

Since the recreation of OnlyFangs on the Anniversary server Doomhowl, several members have been expelled, prompting speculation that some may form their own groups. With Blizzard continuing to update World of Warcraft Classic with Vanilla-accurate patches, the addition of new dungeons and raids could lead to more Hardcore deaths among OnlyFangs members.
