Yukiko's Castle serves as the first significant dungeon in Persona 4 Golden. Despite its relatively short length (seven floors), it provides a valuable introduction to the game's mechanics and combat system.
While the initial floors present minimal difficulty, later levels introduce the Magical Magus, a formidable foe encountered randomly. This guide details its weaknesses and effective strategies for defeating it.
Magical Magus Weakness & Skills In Persona 4 Golden

The Magical Magus utilizes powerful skills, primarily fire-based attacks. Acquiring fire-resistant accessories from golden chests within Yukiko's Castle is highly recommended. These accessories prove beneficial not only against the Magus but also during the final boss encounter.
When the Magical Magus begins charging its magic, prepare to guard on your next turn. It frequently employs Agilao, a potent tier-two spell capable of inflicting significant damage, potentially eliminating unprepared party members. While Hysterical Slap delivers substantial physical damage (two hits), Agilao poses the more significant threat. Strategically, it's advisable for Chie and Yosuke to focus on guarding, minimizing their risk of being incapacitated, while the protagonist utilizes light-based attacks.
Early-Game Persona With A Light Skill In Persona 4 Golden
Archangel is the optimal early-game Persona possessing a light skill, namely Hama. Archangel also learns Media at level 12, a valuable healing skill for the final boss fight. This level 11 Persona can be fused using:
- Slime (Level 2)
- Forneus (Level 6)
In Persona 4 Golden, light and dark skills are exclusively instant-kill moves. Hama, targeting the enemy's weakness, boasts a high hit rate, resulting in near-guaranteed instant kills. This makes the Magical Magus, typically a challenging opponent, surprisingly easy to defeat. Given Archangel's high level, farming the Magical Magus can be advantageous, provided you have sufficient SP recovery items or are willing to enter the final boss fight with depleted SP.
