Longvinter, after a three-year journey through early access on Steam, has officially launched version 1.0! This release incorporates extensive player feedback and bug fixes, delivering a revitalized experience for both veterans and newcomers.
This major update introduces a significant gameplay element: oil rigs scattered throughout the archipelago. Players can now extract oil, process it into fuel, and engage in intense battles against LRI mercenaries controlling vital supply routes. Adding to the excitement are new dynamic events, such as helicopter crashes providing valuable tactical gear, and an underground arena offering hourly combat challenges for lucrative rewards.
The game world has been significantly enhanced with the addition of diverse wildlife, including tamable mounts like lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats. A plethora of new items are available, ranging from stat-boosting hats and protective vests to an array of weapons, explosives, and culinary recipes. Interactive building and decorating options have also been expanded, with the inclusion of oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and turrets. Weapon balancing has also received considerable attention.
Future plans include the 1.1 update, which will introduce farming mechanics, a streamlined tutorial, apartment rentals, and the ability to create shared communities. Furthermore, Longvinter's console debut on PlayStation is confirmed for 2026, broadening its player base beyond the PC community.
