Palworld Switch Release in Consideration

Bad news for Switch gamers hoping to catch 'em all in Palworld: a Switch version is highly unlikely. This early access survival game, featuring collectible creatures similar to Pokémon, gained initial popularity in early 2024 but has since seen a decline in players. A significant update, the Sakurajima Update, launching June 27th, aims to revitalize the game with a new island, Pals, bosses, a higher level cap, and dedicated Xbox servers. However, this update is PC and Xbox only.

Currently, Palworld is an Xbox console exclusive, with a PlayStation port planned. But according to Pocketpair's Takuro Mizobe (via Game File and VGC), a Switch port is improbable due to technical limitations; the Switch's hardware may lack the power for optimal performance. Future Nintendo consoles, though, remain a possibility.

Palworld’s Nintendo Future Uncertain

The upcoming Switch 2, with its anticipated power boost, could potentially run Palworld. However, the game's thematic similarity to Nintendo's own Pokémon franchise might prevent its release on any Nintendo platform. Regardless, portable play isn't entirely ruled out. The game reportedly performs well on the Steam Deck, offering a handheld option for PC players. Furthermore, if rumors of a new Xbox handheld prove true, Palworld could also find a home there. The possibility of Palworld appearing on a Nintendo console remains uncertain.
