Netflix has officially teamed up with the creators of the acclaimed video game Sifu to bring its compelling story to the big screen. The streaming giant has enlisted the talents of T.S. Nowlin, renowned for his work on the Maze Runner franchise and Netflix's Project Adam, to craft the screenplay. While Derek Kolstad, who was previously involved in adapting Sifu's story, might still have a role, his current involvement remains uncertain.

The project boasts a star-studded lineup with the addition of Chad Stahelski, the director behind the John Wick series, and his production company 87Eleven Entertainment, who will serve as executive producers. Notably, Stahelski is also working on another high-profile video game adaptation, Ghost of Tsushima, showcasing his prowess in bringing video game narratives to life on screen.

Released in 2022, Sifu quickly captured the gaming world's attention, selling over one million copies within its first three weeks. The game follows the journey of a young martial artist seeking vengeance for their master's murder. Armed with a mystical pendant that resurrects them after death—but at the cost of aging them several years—the protagonist embarks on a perilous journey through a world filled with danger and intrigue.
