"Monster Hunter Wilds Hits 8 Million Sales in Just 3 Days, Fastest for Capcom"

Author: Nathan Apr 05,2025

Monster Hunter Wilds has not only surpassed eight million units sold in just three days, but it has also become the fastest Capcom game ever to reach this impressive milestone. According to Capcom, the game's launch performance significantly exceeds that of its predecessors, with 2018's Monster Hunter World shipping five million copies and 2021's Monster Hunter Rise shipping four million copies.

These stellar sales figures are not unexpected, considering Monster Hunter Wilds achieved over one million concurrent players on Steam during its opening weekend. The game even surpassed Cyberpunk 2077, securing its position as the 7th most-played game in Steam's history. Additionally, Monster Hunter Wilds contributed to Steam reaching a record-breaking 40 million concurrent players for the first time.

In our review of Monster Hunter Wilds, we noted that the game "continues to smooth off the rougher corners of the series in smart ways, making for some extremely fun fights but also lacking any real challenge."

Reflecting on the broader Monster Hunter franchise, Capcom disclosed that the series, which debuted in 2004 on the PlayStation 2, has sold over 108 million units worldwide as of December 31, 2024.
