Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Returns to Esports World Cup 2025
Following the apparent success of the Esports World Cup 2024, Moonton's Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (MLBB) has officially confirmed its return for the 2025 competition. This follows Garena's Free Fire in announcing their participation.
The 2024 Esports World Cup showcased two MLBB events: the MLBB Mid-Season Cup (MSC) and the MLBB Women's Invitational. Teams from around the globe competed in Riyadh. Selangor Red Giants emerged victorious in the MSC, while Smart Omega Empress defeated Team Vitality (holders of a 25-game win streak since 2021) to claim the Women's Invitational title.
A Strong Showing, But Is It Enough?
While most games from the 2024 Esports World Cup are returning, a noticeable trend is the absence of truly major championships. The inclusion of the MLBB Mid-Season Cup, for example, might suggest that the Esports World Cup is viewed as a supplementary event rather than the primary focus. This is a double-edged sword: it avoids overshadowing established leagues, but it could also be perceived as secondary to the main competitive scene.
Despite this, fans of MLBB will undoubtedly welcome its return to this prestigious tournament. For those intrigued by MLBB, check out our tier list to discover the top-tier characters!
