Marvel Rivals: Monthly Hero Additions Boost Gameplay

NetEase Games has confirmed a steady stream of new heroes for its Marvel Rivals game. According to creative director Guangyun Chen, a new playable character will be released every six weeks, coinciding with the halfway point of each three-month season. Each season will also feature new storylines and maps.

"Every season will bring fresh seasonal narratives, new game maps, and new heroes. We're dividing each season into two parts," Chen explained to Metro. "A season spans three months, and a new hero will debut in each half-season. Our goal is to continuously enhance the gameplay experience and keep our community engaged."

This ambitious release schedule raises the question: who's next? Season 1: Eternal Night Falls began with Mister Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the first half, followed by The Thing and the Human Torch in the second. Maintaining this level of excitement with consistently popular Marvel characters will be a significant undertaking.

The game already boasts a diverse roster including Wolverine, Magneto, Spider-Man, Jeff the Landshark, and Storm. However, numerous other Marvel characters are highly anticipated, with rumors suggesting Blade's appearance in Season 2 and fan hopes for Daredevil, Deadpool, and more X-Men. NetEase's future plans for expanding the roster remain unclear, but the game's initial success indicates a commitment to continued development.

Beyond new heroes, Season 1 also included extensive balance adjustments and general gameplay improvements, with more updates promised.
