Marvel Reportedly Pauses Work on Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. TV Shows

Marvel Television has reportedly placed three shows on hold: Nova, Strange Academy, and Terror, Inc. Sources at Deadline indicate these projects weren't officially greenlit and might still be produced, but Marvel has adjusted its priorities.

This strategic shift coincides with Marvel Studios' upcoming Disney+ series, Daredevil: Born Again. This week, Brad Winderbaum, head of streaming and TV at Marvel Studios, revealed the company is exploring a reunion of the street-level heroes from Daredevil, Luke Cage, Jessica Jones, and Iron Fist – better known as The Defenders.

Marvel Studios is now focusing on developing a larger number of shows than previously, but as Winderbaum told Screen Rant last year: "We’re really being careful about what we choose to do next.”

The Nova news is particularly unexpected, especially considering that just two months ago, former Criminal Minds showrunner Ed Bernero was announced as writer and showrunner, with Nova confirmed for Disney+. See IGN's article for more details on the Nova series.

Strange Academy was anticipated to center around the magic school established by Doctor Strange, with Wong as the headmaster. Details on Terror, Inc. remain scarce.

Confirmed Marvel TV release dates include: Daredevil: Born Again (Disney+, March 4th), Ironheart (June 24th), and Wonder Man (December). Following the release of Captain America: Brave New World, three MCU films are slated for this year: Thunderbolts (May) and The Fantastic Four: First Steps.
