Mario vs. Sonic: Unofficial cinematic crossover trailer unveiled

A dream matchup for many: Sonic and Mario facing off on the silver screen! Fans have long championed a collaboration between Sega and Nintendo, and now KH Studio has delivered a tantalizing glimpse into that possibility with a concept trailer. The trailer juxtaposes the vibrant Mushroom Kingdom with Sonic's breakneck speed, offering a compelling vision of a crossover film.

This imaginative project was fueled by the phenomenal success of the Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog movies, which collectively raked in over $2 billion worldwide. While a true collaboration between Nintendo and Sega remains unlikely given their history, the concept clearly resonates strongly with audiences.

For now, fans can anticipate sequels to both beloved franchises: Super Mario Bros. at the Movies 2 (2026) and Sonic 4 at the Movies (2027).

Meanwhile, December saw the announcement of a partnership between McDonald's, Sega, and Paramount. This led to a US release of Sonic-themed Happy Meals, fulfilling fan hopes sparked by the 2022 toy promotion. Initially, a Colombian-exclusive Sonic promotion featuring twelve unique hedgehog toys generated buzz, but ultimately, the Happy Meal toys were also released in the United States.
