Mai Shiranui Sparks Massive Interest in Street Fighter 6

Street Fighter 6 enthusiasts are thrilled as they dive back into Capcom's acclaimed fighting game to test out the latest addition, Mai Shiranui from the Fatal Fury series. As of December 31, 2024, Street Fighter 6 has impressively sold 4.4 million copies worldwide. Despite some fans feeling the game had been lacking in content, the developers have recently delighted the community by introducing a new fighter.

Mai Shiranui marks the third fighter added in the second season of Street Fighter 6, and her inclusion has significantly boosted the game's popularity. On the day of her release, the peak concurrent players on Steam soared to over 63,000, a substantial leap from the usual 24,000 to 27,000 peak players, marking the highest since May 2024.

Players with a Battle Pass can access Mai Shiranui. In the World Tour mode, fans can build relationships with Mai, learn her unique moves, and then put their skills to the test in the Battle Hub. Additionally, a second costume inspired by her appearance in Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves has been introduced, adding more variety to her character customization.

The excitement doesn't stop there; the Battle Hub now hosts a temporary guest, Professor Woshige, a renowned developer and legend in the fighting game community. Players can experience his presence until March 10. Alongside these updates, new Master League ranks and rewards have been added, enhancing the competitive aspect of the game.

Capcom has also released a trailer showcasing Mai Shiranui's impressive techniques, further stoking the excitement among the Street Fighter 6 community.
