Hearthstone enthusiasts are in for a treat with the upcoming Heroes of StarCraft Mini-Set, slated for release on January 21. This expansive Mini-Set boasts a record-breaking 49 new cards, making it the largest in Hearthstone's history. The set introduces a thrilling crossover between Hearthstone and Blizzard's beloved StarCraft universe, blending class-specific and multi-class cards themed around StarCraft factions.
The Mini-Set was first teased during the Warcraft Direct on November 13, 2024, but detailed information was only recently unveiled. Heroes of StarCraft expands on The Great Dark Beyond set, integrating unique mechanics and cards from the StarCraft universe. Players can expect three cards for each Hearthstone class, alongside five cards per StarCraft faction—Zerg, Protoss, and Terran—each tailored to specific classes. Highlighting the set is a factionless neutral Legendary card, Grunty, completing this innovative collection.
The Zerg cards, accessible to Death Knight, Demon Hunter, Hunter, and Warlock, emphasize spawning numerous Zerglings and leveraging the Hydralisk's damage potential based on swarm size. On the other hand, the Protoss cards for Druid, Mage, Priest, and Rogue focus on mana manipulation to summon high-cost cards like the Carrier. Meanwhile, Paladin, Shaman, and Warrior classes will benefit from the Starship mechanic, with new pieces and strategies to launch multiple Starships, including a special Mech-type Starship.
While the Mini-Set's size is impressive, it comes with a slightly higher price tag. A complete playset is available for $20 or 2500 gold, and an all-Golden version can be purchased for $80 or 12,000 gold. For those interested in specific factions, packs featuring Protoss, Terran, or Zerg cards can be bought for $10 or 1200 gold. Cards from this Mini-Set will also be available in The Great Dark Beyond packs.
To celebrate the launch, Hearthstone is hosting two streaming events. StarCast, airing on January 23 at 10 AM PST, will feature StarCraft legends TrumpSC and Day9 showcasing the new cards. Following this, HearthCraft on January 24 at 9 AM PST will see Hearthstone community creators representing each faction in exciting matches and mini-games. Viewers of these events on Twitch can earn two normal and two Golden The Great Dark Beyond packs, so make sure to tune in and claim your rewards!
