GOG Resurrects Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2 on PC

The beloved cult classics, Dino Crisis and Dino Crisis 2, are making a thrilling comeback on PC through GOG, the CD Projekt-owned platform. These survival horror gems from the original PlayStation era are now available DRM-free, with all their original content preserved thanks to GOG's Preservation Program.

Originally launched by Capcom, Dino Crisis hit the scene in 1999, followed closely by Dino Crisis 2 in 2000. A third installment, Dino Crisis 3, debuted exclusively on the original Xbox in 2003, and since then, fans have been eagerly awaiting any new developments. Despite persistent fan campaigns for a new entry or an HD remake, Capcom has remained largely silent on the matter. The release of Exoprimal in 2022, a multiplayer action game featuring dinosaurs, was widely regarded as the final blow to hopes for a Dino Crisis revival. Furthermore, in August of the previous year, the series' creator, Shinji Mikami, suggested that the immense popularity of Capcom's Monster Hunter series might be crowding out potential space for a Dino Crisis reboot or remake.

Previously, securing and running PC ports of the first two Dino Crisis games was a challenge on modern systems. GOG's efforts to bring these games back are therefore highly appreciated by the gaming community. GOG celebrated the re-release by stating, "Thanks to the tremendous efforts of Capcom and GOG, Regina's iconic line, 'You're extinct!' no longer applies to the game itself. The timeless thriller that defined a generation of gamers is made to last forever, enhanced for today's systems, featuring all the original content you loved with numerous improvements."
