Following Godzilla vs. Fantastic Four #1 and Godzilla vs. Hulk #1, this latest installment is a retro trip, set after 1984's Secret Wars. Peter Parker, fresh off Battleworld and sporting his newly acquired symbiote suit, faces a challenge unlike any other: Godzilla! He'll need every bit of his enhanced strength to save New York City from this colossal threat.
Written by Joe Kelly (soon to relaunch The Amazing Spider-Man), with art by Nick Bradshaw (Wolverine and the X-Men), and cover art by Bradshaw, Lee Garbett, and Greg Land, Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 promises a thrilling clash.
"The moment I heard about a '80s-set Godzilla/Spidey crossover, I practically jumped across the table to claim it," Kelly shared with IGN. "This book is a chance to go wild with two iconic characters, capturing the chaotic energy of that era. Nick Bradshaw perfectly captures the absurdity and vibe, while giving Godzilla and Spidey (in his… ahem… black suit) the respect they deserve. It's a love letter delivered with an earth-shattering roar!"
This isn't the first superhero vs. Godzilla showdown. DC's Justice League vs. Godzilla vs. Kong (with a sequel in the works) featured the MonsterVerse versions, but Marvel's series focuses on classic Toho Godzilla. This announcement also follows the reveal of IDW's Godzilla vs. Los Angeles #1, a charity anthology.
Godzilla vs. Spider-Man #1 hits shelves April 30, 2025. For more on upcoming comics, check out our previews of Marvel and DC's 2025 releases.
