The Evil Genius series may get a new game

Rebellion CEO Jason Kingsley hasn't ruled out Evil Genius 3, but isn't making any promises just yet. The franchise is close to his heart, and he's carefully considering how to elevate it for a potential future installment.

Kingsley suggests the world domination theme could translate beyond the base-building simulator genre, exploring other strategic formats. While specifics remain under discussion, the team is actively brainstorming new ideas to revitalize the franchise.

Evil Genius 2, released in 2021, garnered "mostly positive" reviews from critics on Metacritic. However, player reception was more mixed. Despite improved graphics and attempts to address past criticisms, the sequel fell short of expectations for many, compared to the original. Common complaints centered on the global map, minion and structure degradation, and various other gameplay aspects.
