Earth vs. Mars Announced by Company of Heroes Developer Relic Entertainment

Author: Ellie Mar 21,2025

Relic Entertainment, the studio behind Company of Heroes, is venturing into a new, smaller-scale turn-based strategy game: Earth vs. Mars. Launching this summer on PC via Steam, this title throws players into a desperate fight for Earth's survival against a Martian invasion. The core mechanic? The Splice-O-Tron, a device used to create bizarre and powerful creature-human hybrids like the Squirrel-Cow, Human-Rhino, and Cheetah-Fly, to bolster Earth's defenses. Gameplay draws inspiration from the classic Nintendo DS title, Advance Wars.

Relic explains the Martian invasion: "For decades, Martians have secretly visited Earth, abducting humans and animals to harvest their atomic essence. Now, they’ve returned with a full-scale invasion, and it’s up to a ragtag group of commanders to lead Earth’s resistance." Players will command Earth's military against advanced Martian weaponry, including saucers, grav-tanks, and elite alien warriors.

Earth vs. Mars offers a robust single-player campaign featuring over 30 missions, online multiplayer allowing players to command either Earth or Martian forces, a VS Mode for AI challenges, and a map editor for custom creations.

Relic CEO Justin Dowdeswell commented, “We are excited to bring a Relic Twist to the Advance Wars style of gameplay, infusing some Relic DNA, while harkening back to some of our earlier titles. Relic Entertainment recently announced a new strategy: Alongside continuing to work on the traditional RTS titles that we’re known for, we’re also going to work on smaller Indie style games in order to explore new sub-genres, experiment, get our creative juices going, and release games more frequently.” Add it to your Steam wishlist today!
