As the battle begins within a castle flooded with crimson liquid, the Blade Phantom unleashes a variety of attacks. You'll need to master the timing of these moves to effectively counter and deplete its stamina:

  • A six-hit combo consisting of four punches and two kicks, with the second kick delayed.
  • A three-hit combo of two punches followed by a downward kick.
  • A four-hit combo beginning with a right hook, followed by two kicks, and ending with a leaping kick smash.
  • A three-hit combo featuring flashing punches, culminating in a grab that you must dodge.

Beyond these melee assaults, the Blade Phantom can summon a giant hammer, causing damage and spawning red spikes. If it switches to a spear, prepare for a quick throw and a subsequent teleporting smash. When wielding a blade, it executes a swift six-hit combo. The boss may also vanish and dash around before striking.

By learning the timings of these attacks and skillfully parrying or dodging, you can find openings to attack and reduce its stamina enough to execute a Brutal Attack. Continue this strategy until you've depleted about half of its health, triggering the transition to Phase 2.

Phase 2

In the second phase, the Blade Phantom begins with four claw attacks followed by a high-altitude spear throw. Dodge the affected area after the spear lands and brace for a leaping swipe. This sequence is followed by three greatsword slashes and a final hammer smash.

While the boss retains many of its earlier moves, it introduces new attacks such as a spear thrust and follow-up, along with four to six sets of swift dual-wielding attacks. Teleportation becomes more frequent, and when wielding the greatsword, be wary of multiple slashes culminating in a Burst Attack, signaled by a red P-like symbol on the screen. To counter this, use the Counterattack (L1/LB + Circle/B) to parry, replenishing your stamina and leaving the boss vulnerable to further attacks.

Exploit the Blade Phantom's stamina depletion to launch Brutal Attacks, but time these carefully to maximize damage as the window closes. Successfully defeating the Blade Phantom will reward you with 8,640 Lacrima, Soul Eater gear items, a Shieldsman’s Ring, and Netherworld Mineral for crafting.
