Essence Stones are a fresh addition to *Fields of Mistria* introduced in the game's March 2025 update. These stones are essential for several new features, so having a good supply is crucial for your daily tasks. Here's how to locate and craft Essence Stones in various sizes, and how to utilize them effectively.

Where To Find Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

With the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* now features Essence Stones inside chests scattered throughout the mines. My first encounter was while scavenging for offering items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but these chests can pop up on any level and in various biomes. Be cautious of mimic enemies that masquerade as chests and can harm you upon interaction.

Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. The smaller ones are more common, but with diligent searching, you can uncover the larger varieties. If finding them proves challenging, consider crafting them once you've built the Stone Refinery within the mines.

How To Craft Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

Crafting Essence Stones is possible at the Stone Refinery in *Fields of Mistria*. This facility becomes accessible through a new story quest added in the March 2025 update, tasking you with constructing the refinery from scratch within the mines. After completing the necessary quests, Adeline will enlist your help along with Olric and Errol.

To build the Stone Refinery, gather:

• x200 Wood
• x400 Stone
• x5,000 Tesserae

Once constructed, you can craft Essence Stones of different sizes at the refinery. Each requires Stone and Essence, with the quantity varying by size. Refer to the table below for specific crafting requirements.

Besides Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery also enables crafting a range of common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond. This makes it a valuable hub for crafting resources needed for new constructions and projects throughout Mistria.

How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria

The March 2025 update introduced the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones. Larger stones provide a longer-lasting charge, making Large Essence Stones the best choice for extended use.

The auto-petter mechanic is facilitated by the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place inside Large Barns and Coops. This statue ensures all animals are automatically petted daily, as long as an Essence Stone is powering it. You can discover this rare statue in a hidden cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows by using the Dragon’s Breath spell to access the entrance. Additional statues can be crafted once the item is unlocked.

The sprinkler mechanic is unlocked with the Water Sprite Statue, which can be placed anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more of these statues to cover larger areas of your farm. The statue and its crafting scroll can be found on a small island east of the beach, just past the Lighthouse area. Use Dragon’s Breath on the entrance to gain access.

Essence Stones are set to play an even bigger role in *Fields of Mistria* with future updates from NPC Studio.
