Triangle Strategy Returns to Nintendo Switch eShop

Great news for RPG fans! Triangle Strategy, the acclaimed tactical RPG from Square Enix, is back on the Nintendo Switch eShop after a temporary removal. This follows a recent transfer of publishing rights from Nintendo to Square Enix, a possible explanation for the brief delisting.

Nintendo Switch owners can now purchase and download Triangle Strategy once more. The game's return marks the end of a several-day absence from the online store.

Triangle Strategy, lauded for its classic tactical RPG gameplay, has drawn comparisons to franchises like Fire Emblem. Its strategic unit placement and combat mechanics have resonated with players.

Square Enix confirmed the game's return to the eShop via Twitter. While the reason for the initial delisting remains unstated officially, speculation points to the recent publishing rights acquisition from Nintendo.

This isn't the first time a Square Enix title has been temporarily removed from the eShop; Octopath Traveler experienced a similar situation last year. However, Triangle Strategy's return was much quicker, lasting only four days compared to Octopath Traveler's several-week absence.

The game's reappearance is welcome news for Nintendo Switch players who appreciate Square Enix titles. This further highlights the strong ongoing relationship between the two companies, exemplified by past collaborations such as the Nintendo Switch exclusive release of the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster series (before its wider release on other platforms).

Square Enix's history of releasing console exclusives dates back to the original Final Fantasy on the NES. While their releases now span multiple platforms, this tradition continues, with titles like Final Fantasy VII Rebirth (currently PlayStation 5 exclusive) and the original Nintendo Switch exclusive release of Dragon Quest XI.
