Assassin’s Creed Shadows Delayed Again

Assassin's Creed Shadows' March Release Date Confirmed

Ubisoft has announced another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows, pushing the release date back to March 20, 2025. Initially slated for a February 14th launch, this latest postponement adds five weeks to the already revised schedule. The publisher cites the need for further refinement and polishing, incorporating player feedback, as the reason for the delay.

The game's journey to release has been marked by setbacks. A previous delay, announced in September 2024, shifted the launch from November 15th to February 14th. While the initial delay was attributed to unspecified development challenges, Ubisoft now clarifies that this second delay directly addresses player feedback.

Marc-Alexis Coté, the game's vice president executive producer, emphasized Ubisoft's commitment to delivering a high-quality experience, shaped by ongoing player interaction. Both delays, he stated, provide crucial time for the development team to enhance and polish the game before its release.

Release Date: March 20, 2025

The September delay resulted in pre-order refunds and the promise of free access to the first expansion for those who pre-ordered. Whether similar incentives will accompany this shorter delay remains unannounced. The relatively shorter timeframe of this delay might mitigate potential player frustration compared to the previous three-month postponement.

This latest delay could also be connected to Ubisoft's ongoing internal investigation into its development practices. The company, while a major player in the gaming industry, experienced record losses in its 2023 fiscal year. This investigation aims to create a more "player-centric" approach to game development, and incorporating fan feedback into Assassin's Creed Shadows aligns with this goal.
