Amazon's highly anticipated God of War TV series is set to captivate audiences with not just one, but two confirmed seasons, as revealed by showrunner Ronald D. Moore. Stepping into the role following the exit of previous showrunner Rafe Judkins and executive producers Hawk Ostby and Mark Fergus, Moore discussed his new venture with Katee Sackhoff, a familiar face from his time on Battlestar Galactica.
"Right now, I'm working on an adaptation of a video game called God of War, a big title in the gaming world that Amazon has ordered two seasons of and they've asked me to come in," Moore shared. "So I'm literally in the writer's room, working on that. That's my new thing."

Despite his involvement in the God of War series, Moore humorously confessed that he's not a seasoned gamer, enjoying classic arcade games like Defender, Asteroids, and Centipede instead. He amusingly recounted his struggles with modern gaming controllers: "'Press R1.' Which one's R1? Oh, I'm dead," Moore quipped.
For the God of War project, Moore is not just the showrunner but also serves as a writer and executive producer. His impressive resume includes notable contributions to Star Trek: The Next Generation and Deep Space Nine, alongside his role as showrunner for the acclaimed 2000s Battlestar Galactica.
While the previous team saw some departures, Sony's Cory Barlog remains a key executive producer. Though many details about the series are yet to be finalized, it's confirmed that the show will draw from the 2018 installment of God of War.
Amazon's track record of swiftly renewing successful video game adaptations like the Fallout TV show and Secret Level hints at promising streaming prospects for God of War. Fans and newcomers alike can look forward to what promises to be an epic journey.
