The trailer introduces fans to a new Xenomorph design while paying homage to Ridley Scott’s 1979 classic with scenes set in a MU/TH/UR control room reminiscent of the Nostromo. A tense moment unfolds as a crew member frantically seeks help, only to be ignored by Morrow, portrayed by Babou Ceesay. Morrow chillingly reports the escape of the "specimens," declares the crew dead, and ominously sets the ship's impact point as Earth. The trailer then shifts to show a squad of six soldiers approaching what appears to be the crashed vessel, hinting at the dangers they are about to face.
This glimpse into Alien: Earth raises numerous questions: Will Morrow survive? What drives him? Are there any other survivors? Has anyone been impregnated by the Xenomorph? And what fate awaits the soldiers?
The series sets up an intriguing premise where a mysterious spacecraft crash-lands on Earth. A young woman, played by Sydney Chandler, along with a group of tactical soldiers, stumbles upon a "fateful discovery" that pits them against one of the planet's deadliest threats.
Set in the year 2120, Alien: Earth fits neatly into the broader Alien timeline, occurring shortly after Prometheus and just before the events of the original Alien. This placement has led fans to speculate whether the series might show the Nostromo's departure from Earth or reveal how Weyland-Yutani first learned of the Xenomorphs. Notably, Alien: Romulus, another recent addition to the franchise, is set between Alien and Aliens.
Showrunner Noah Hawley has previously discussed his creative choices for Alien: Earth, opting to steer away from the backstory established in Prometheus. Hawley, who consulted with Ridley Scott, emphasized his preference for the "retro-futurism" of the original films, choosing to focus on the lore that fans love from the early entries in the series.
Alien: Earth is slated to premiere on Hulu in the summer of 2025. Additionally, Alien: Romulus 2 is currently in development, promising more adventures in this beloved universe.
